Platte Ridge Farm is a family farm located on 154 scenic acres along the Platte River in
Central Minnesota. Along with breeding and exhibiting Classic Shetland Ponies, Foundation
Shetland Ponies, Modern Pleasure Shetland Ponies, and ASPC/AMHR Miniature Shetland
Ponies we raise corn and alfalfa.
At Platte Ridge Farm our Classic, Foundation, Modern Pleasure, and Miniature Shetland
ponies are raised with an eye for quality, not quantity. Our goal at Platte Ridge Farm is to
raise ponies that are just as at home with our children as they are in the show ring. Platte
Ridge Farm maintains a small breeding herd which consists of 3 stallions and approximately
20 broodmares. All of our stallions and the majority of our broodmares are Foundation
Certified with the American Shetland Pony Club. All of our breeding stallions and many of
our mares have their DNA on file with the American Shetland Pony Club and the University
of Kentucky. Our senior herdsire Grassmere's Mr. Unique is also AMHR registered with the
American Miniature Horse Registry as our several of our mares. Watch for more ASPC/
AMHR registered Miniature Shetlands with the Plattes prefix in the future!
Bloodlines found in the Platte Ridge Farm breeding herd include primarily Grassmere,
Willowlawn, and Royal with a smattering of Red Rock, VB, Cody, etc. Our ponies range in
color from pinto to solid, roan to silver, and nearly every color in between.
Visitors are always welcome but please call or email in advance to arrange a time. We are
located just two hours North of the Twin Cities Metro Area and just a half hour South of the
Brainerd Lakes Area.
